Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olsen refuses to use previous coaches as excuses; instead he says it's up to him to start fresh.
Every year brings a new team with different dynamics, and Olsen feels using past failures as an excuse is not a good starting point. From Hue Jackson to Greg Knapp, they don't mean anything to him, it's his show now.
It doesn't matter who changed the running scheme, or simplified the passing game, all that matters now is who can throw the ball, who can carry the mail, and how do you pull it all together.
"To sit and blame it all on the previous coordinator is naive," Olson said, via Monte Poole of sacbee.com. "Players change, year in and year out. There are changes in philosophy and scheme. Injuries become a factor. The schedule becomes a factor.
"But whoever the quarterback is going to be, let's make sure he's comfortable. And after that, let's talk about McFadden because he's probably our most explosive play...
