Raiders re-sign right tackle Khalif Barnes
4:40PM Monday
March 25, 2013

The Oakland Raiders want to get back to what made them the number one ranked running offense a few years ago.

First came changing the scheme back to a power blocking style that fit running back Darren McFadden's running style.

Number two is having the type of offensive linemen that can open up lanes. According to Josh Alper of Profootballtalk.com, The Raiders re-signed one of their own free agents in right tackle Khalif Barnes. Alper writes:

'Barnes missed seven games with a groin injury last season, but has started the other 25 games Oakland's played in the last two years.

He falls more into the category of serviceable than star, but the Raiders aren't exactly swimming with the cap space to vault themselves into the latter category.

He was less effective in the zone blocking scheme the Raiders used less season than he was in 2011, so the switch may produce better results this time around.

Barnes started his career with the Jaguars as a second-round pick in 2005.'
